Weekly Update for 7.21 to 7.27.2025

Good morning/afternoon friends,

I hope everyone had a wonderful week but if not, I’m sorry! Butttttt, it’s a new week so hopefully it’ll be better than the last one 🙂

This week was interesting! I didn’t sleep well for three days, causing me to be exhausted most of the week which caused another bad medical flare up! So once again, I didn’t get as much done as I wanted to. But, I focused on doing what steps I could! So, let’s get down to business (to defeat, the hunnss, she sings horribly off key. Sorry, sorry couldn’t resist. Mulan has a great soundtrack!)

I have found two people who have agreed to be my art mentor and give me feedback and guidance. This is a first for me, so I am VERY excited. Since then, I have learned that feedback stings (like REALLY stings) but, it is very essential if I want to grow. I found I need to go back to the beginning on shapes, lineart, perspective, coloring and lighting. Since those are very different beasts, I will be focusing on shapes, lineart, and perspective for the month of August. I will also be starting master studies of artists I really admire as well. Lastly, I have also learned that I have become very reliant on the non destructiveness of digital art. Thus, I will be practicing both digital and traditional art, switching between the two as I practice.

Before July ends, I want to try and knock out as much as I can. I need to work on finishing game docs, updating interviews for the website, read the Alice In Wonderland books while taking notes for the game, finish up the reference pdf for my book, and make a list of all the interactable items in the office for the hidden object game. I’m hoping to do a good chunk of art study as well (phew, that’s a lot!). Then, I need to review my goals for the month of August to make sure I am hitting them!

Sadly, I also need to put time aside to clean the house this week (ick). I have been putting it off (for months) but have found that a clean environment really helps me and motivates me. It is currently very gnarly so, it will be a lot of work (again, ick) …. but, I can do it! I need to think positive!

For my book, I created the first rough edition of the map, an image of the 3 headed god (that I am working on getting feedback and adjusting with my mentor’s help), and different variations of the pollution cleaner’s head gear for the owl faction. I also talked and brainstormed with my brother on different types of gears and masks since he has a lot more knowledge on it than me. For my Alice video game, I did a very rough sketch of the Cheshire cat in the form of a big panther. I found I loved the concept and decided to move forward with him being able to change sizes and possibly fight alongside you. I also want to have a spinner that you have to interact with that determines if he fights alongside you or attacks you during the battle when you summon him. (Although, I will post the sketch and notes this week on it when it is more polished. I’m also hoping to go back to the smaller version and do adjustments on him as well.) Lastly, for my hidden object game, I managed to finish the placeholder sketch of the current room I am working on. My friend and I are trying to make the room feel more 3D/interactable despite it being in a 2D art style. We are trying to have it that when you click the side of the wall, you are able to turn to it and are able to rotate an object in 3D to examine it for clues. We are unsure how this will feel, so we have a lot of testing ahead of us! Lastly, I have signed up for Tik Tok! Well, I downloaded the app again. I have decided that I want to make videos on my work and upload it. But I am waiting till I have enough content first, so it’ll be quite a while while I accumulate content. That is all for this week. Have a great day and I’ll see you in the next post!
