Squeaky Ideas

Weekly Sunday Update -July 13th, 2025

Good morning/afternoon fellow creators!

I hope everyone had a wonderful week. This week I made good progress on my goals! I have:

  • set up this devlog and obtained a few interview responses along with sending out more questions to different creators
  • Came up with a rough design for Alice’s outfit as well as brainstorming different variations (with the help of a Reddit user, who has an excellent eye for clothing and was able to guide me in the right direction of what was more pleasing to the eye)
  • Found I wanted to do a slide level in the Alice in Wonderland game where you go down a river of tea in a teacup, jumping from platform to platform, guiding your teacup, and battling enemies. (I have started researching how I am able to graybox this without much coding) I got this idea talking to another Reddit user, who is also a game developer.
  • Started brainstorming mechanics for the Alice in Wonderland game
  • Did a drawing brainstorm session of the white rabbit
  • Started reading a book on video game mechanics called  “Exploring Game Mechanics Principles and techniques to make fun, engaging games” By Maithili Dhule
  • Worked on creating my map for my book
  • Found and decided to go with a program called Arcweave, a system to help with dialogue for my hidden object game. I have been watching tutorials and slowly building up the flowchart for my game.

Phew! What a packed week! But, I am excited for the progress I have made! I feel like my progress will slow down a bit though as I focus on: learning and researching how to graybox, learning to use Arcweave and build the Hidden Object’s game dialogue and how to guide the players with branching narrative and do some studying on coloring better and perspective study!

How did your projects go? What are your goals for next week? Comment below! 🙂

Project Progress Pictures

Alice In Wonderland Progress

I have listed the brainstorm clothing sessions and the version I have decided to go with for now plus the original design I first came up with. (show pictures)

First Design that I came up with, clothing brainstorm and temporary final concept of Alice’s outfit.

I have also added the white rabbit art  brainstorm  picture that I created. I had a friend ask what are the thoughts behind the mechanical rabbit so I wanted to include my thoughts! So far, I have decided the queen of hearts is  to be an engineer, who chops off people’s heads to consume their brain in order to increase her intelligence. She creates mechanical rabbits that welcome “Alices” to Wonderland and try to convince them to come to the Queen of Hearts Domain. The white rabbit himself is in charge of placing them all in rabbit holes (connections to Wonderland) and doing maintenance on them.

VIDEO GAME WORK

Here is a sample of the Arcweave Layout that I started for the hidden object game

BOOK WORK-MAP

Here is my map work that I did and found that still needs a lot of refinement and tuning. I have decided to move it from tracing paper to digital so it’s easier to shift it around. I will convert it to digital this coming week.
